“My dream at Medill was to cover animal stories and only animal stories. While some teachers thought I was nuts (they thought I should be more well-rounded in my reporting–not bad advice!), there were a few wonderful professors who encouraged me and cheered me on as I stood in subfreezing temperatures to watch Asian carp die in the Chicago canal. It’s because of those teachers that I am where I am today, working my dream job. And I’m thankful every day for their support.”
