“Starting at our class orientation, I sat with a small group of people from Asia, Latvia and Michigan, and we discussed our upbringings and why we chose Medill. As a person born and raised in a mostly homogeneous community in Philadelphia, I was able to experience racial, ethnic socioeconomic and neurodiversity simultaneously. I quickly learned students at Medill were curious, courageous and willing to challenge themselves on the path to success. Despite our physical differences, that initial bond planted a seed of affirmation that I was in the right place.”
