“Medill was transformative. It was also an incredible challenge. I remember one particular assignment, meant to be completed in the course of three hours, where we were supposed to find, interview and write a short profile of someone, anyone really. Our professor rattled off the details and we all just sat there staring at him until he yelled, ‘GO!’ and we flew from the room out of fright. It was good preparation for a life lived on deadline. I owe so much of my success to Medill. My professors had incredibly high expectations and were unwavering in their demands. There could be no better preparation for a lifetime in media. I graduated in 1998 and I still bleed purple and white.”
