“First, having a Medill degree under your belt is an immediate door opener as the school is held in such high regard. The degree represents the finest in J school education, and the professors demanded the highest standards in reporting, writing and editing. The ‘red pen’ was used freely and one error resulted in an ‘F.’ This was a memorable lesson in getting the facts and the story right. Objectivity and sensitivity to audience interests were also critical lessons that lasted a lifetime.”
